Psychiatry survival guide

Introduction

It is a daunting experience that of being psychiatrized. Suddenly stripped of rights and forced in a hospital where everything goes wrong: the truth is that those working in psychiatry do not have the patient’s best interest at heart. Everyone knows patients of psychiatry have no rights, everything is decided for them, and that they are very easy to dismiss when they speak. The field attracts the wrong kind of people. And since everyone believes you can’t do what’s right for you, the reflex is to never give you what you want or ask for; and the only solution is to exist the least. If they see you having fun, they think something must be wrong and break it off.

This guide is for the psychiatric patients who have to survive a hospitalization and don’t know where to start. It aims at giving away the principles of psychiatry so one can start building one’s way around. Because once psychiatrists has got claims on you, there’s no getting above it, no getting under, and no going through… only going around.
